INOVA Fairfax HospitalIST currently provides full time on-site personnel to perform support services at the INOVA Fairfax Hospital’s main campus in Falls Church, VA. Support services include complete on-site day-to-day system installation and testing, preventive maintenance (PM), and corrective maintenance (CM). Further, IST supports INOVA with system modifications; system patching and upgrades; system administration support; demolitions and equipment relocations as well as other duties as assigned, related to the security alarm and access control equipment on the campus.
The INOVA Health System (INOVA) is expanding the Fairfax campus with the 2015 Capital Improvement Program (2015 CIP). In 2013, IST was awarded the security contract for INOVA’s Women’s Hospital project, a 665,000 square foot structure to accommodate Labor & Delivery, Surgical suite, NICU and women’s’ patient care services. This award builds on IST’s security presence at INOVA and includes build-out of the lower level shell space in the adjacent South Patient Tower.
INOVA has been ranked the #1 Hospital in the D.C. metropolitan area by U.S. News and World Report and their trust in IST as a key integrator and manager of the security support services is a point of pride for our organization.
Carilion ClinicEarly in 2015, IST began working with Carilion Clinic, an extensive system of 220 not-for-profit hospitals, clinics, and primary and specialty health practitioners located through Roanoke and the western Virginia area. With revenues of approximately $1.5 billion, the organization faced large challenges in securing their 11,700 employees and almost 1 million patients.
Previously, Carilion Clinic’s security had no long-term expandable plan to protect the rapidly growing entity. Carilion was seeking a security integrator to handle these evolving needs.
IST worked closely with Carilion to devise several short-term projects that would immediately bring their systems up to date. IST fixed and then upgraded both their OnSSI video system and the Galaxy access control systems.
IST’s full-service offerings and heavy emphasis on customer service really opened Carilion’s eyes. They needed a holistic approach to take them into the future. With their full lifecycle approach, IST was a great fit, especially when they saw how IST took care of their customers.
IST works with about 95% of the Carilion network, including Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Carilion Jefferson College of Health Sciences, Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, and many others. Next steps include expanding and upgrading the video and access control systems for these facilities.
Stone Springs Hospital CenterIST began installing the security system with the construction of Stone Springs Hospital Center in late 2015. The 234,000 square foot, 124-bed acute care hospital is located in Dulles, VA, and provides comprehensive medical services to patients in Northern Virginia and Washington, DC. It is part of HCA, the largest provider of healthcare services in the US. IST worked directly for their general contractor, Brasfield & Gorrie, which is headquartered in Alabama.
IST was tasked with installing an access control system using Software House, one of their core access control products, for approximately 200 doors. The hospital opened their doors to the public on December 7, 2015, and has been successfully treating patients since then.
In the future, IST hopes to continue providing long-term security solutions to Stone Springs Hospital Center, as well as help them keep their systems up-to-date.
